It’s Sunday, and yet I’m still buzzing from Friday night’s gig.

Everything went really well …

… erm, apart from breaking a string in the first song, the guts of my guitar’s jack hanging out, breaking a ground connection on the pots meaning the LED flashing unit stomped all over the guitar sound (so I had to turn it off )

Yeah, apart from that it went well.

Oh, and Si managed to get on the off-beat for the last song which made it sound like we played double time, and thankfully he recovered gracefully, but apart from that it went well.

Oh, and our makeshift foldback didn’t do much for Sarah, so she thought she was going to sing flat, but she obviously doesn’t realise her brilliance as she was spot on key (I was listening, honest!)  In fact someone in the audience asked her afterwards if she was a professional singer who had been especially brought in to front the band … I would have said yes, if they’d asked me

Oh, and Gabriel … well, Gabriel was just perfect!  At least I didn’t notice any dramas from him during the gig, and he was imaginative enough to play some jamming bass with Si’s drumbeat to keep the audience entertained whilst I swapped out guitars.  What a professional!

Yeah, it’s almost time to play.

The band have been together now for, ooh what is it, something like seven or eight months, and we’re finally getting there.  Two days time and we have our first gig, albeit one in front of a friendly audience.

I’ll tell you the full history one day, but for now just be content to know that I’m finally talking about it in public

Seriously though, Gabriel, Sarah and I, have all been in bands before.  Si is the only one who hasn’t ever performed in public.  Hey, it was only seven or eight months ago that he took up the drums!  But for a guy who has learned how to play via numerous sessions of RockBand, he’s absolutely awesome.  No, really!

I’ve been writing my own material since I was about 16, though it’s this band that is providing a sound that I’ve been looking for since my second band … and yeah, that was from when I was about 16

Anyway, I’m looking forward to the gig.  I’ve even modded my guitar for the evening …

… but that’s for another time, which I’ll save for after the gig, ’cause I don’t want to give anything away too soon.
